Chinese Consul General in Auckland Chen Shijie Meets with NZCA Auckland Branch President Richard Leung

On 26 June, Consul General Chen Shijie met with Richard Leung, President of the Auckland Branch of the New Zealand Chinese Association (NZCA).

Chen acknowledged and commended the NZCA Auckland Branch for its active integration into local society, members services,efforts in enhancing the image of the Chinese community, and contributions to the development of China–New Zealand relations. He briefed on the latest developments in bilateral ties, particularly the major outcomes of Prime Minister Luxon’s China visit, and encouraged the NZCA Auckland Branch to continue supporting the development and reunification of the motherland. The Consulate-General is committed to the people-centered diplomacy, actively listening to feedback and keeping improving consular services

Leung introduced the development history of the NZCA Auckland Branch, and expressed its readiness to enhance internal capacity building, promote fine traditional Chinese culture, and advance mutually beneficial cooperation between New Zealand and China.

The NZCA was founded in 1937, known as one of the Chinese associations with the longest history. It has 14 branches throughout New Zealand while Auckland Branches remains the largest.
