On June 25, 2025, Mr. Pan Qingjiang, Consul General of China in Johannesburg, met with Cllr. Malekula Melato, Executive Mayor of Maluti A Phofung. Mr. Pan introduced the outcomes of the Ministerial Meeting of Coordinators on the Implementation of the Follow-up Actions of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the 4th China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo (CAETE). The Consul General hoped that both sides would seize the opportunity, strengthen communication and work together so as to deliver more results in sub-national exchanges and cooperation. Cllr. Melato shared her experience in Hunan Province during the 4th CAETE and affirmed her willingness to further develop friendly and cooperative relations between Maluti A Phofung and China.
