Chinese Embassy in Solomon Islands Hands over Livelihood Supplies to Malaita Province

On July 2, 2025,Chinese Embassy in Solomon Islands handed over a batch of livelihood supplies donated by Jiangsu Province to Malaita Province. Chinese Ambassador H.E. Cai Weiming, Malaita Premier Elijah Asilaua, and representatives of the provincial government attended the ceremony.

Ambassador Cai Weiming said that over the past five years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Solomon Islands, bilateral cooperation has yielded fruitful outcomes and sub-national exchanges have flourished. In June, Premier Asilaua led a delegation to visit Jiangsu Province, where both sides reached cooperation intentions in areas such as agriculture, education, and trade, and formally signed a sister-province agreement. This marks a new chapter in exchanges and cooperation between the two provinces. He expressed confidence that the two sides will continue to deepen cooperation across various fields and bring greater benefits to their people.

Premier Asilaua expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the generous donation, saying that it symbolizes the long-standing and mutual respectful friendship between China and Solomon Islands. He said that the gifts received from the Chinese Embassy are not only items of utility and support, but as a symbol of our brotherhood friendship and partnership, that builds on mutual respect and the shared future for progress, peace, and prosperity. 

The donated items are expected to support key sectors in Malaita Province, including health, education, agriculture, infrastructure, and daily well-being.
