On May 16, Ambassador Yang Xiaokun, attended the groundbreaking ceremony of China-aided project of Maseru Fire Station and Fire Engine. Minister of Local Government, Chieftainship, Home Affairs and Police, Honorable Lephema, Minister of Public Works and Transport, Honorable Moteane, officials from Maseru City Council and other government departments, representatives of Chinese enterprises and reporters, totaling over 100 people, attended the ceremony.
Ambassador Yang said that in one year, China will hand over a modern fire station to Lesotho, and he looks forward to it becoming a new landmark of Maseru. No matter how the international situation changes, China will firmly support Lesotho's development and jointly address various risks and challenges. China and Lesotho will work together to implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and Lesotho is welcome to take advantage of platforms such as the China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo to share in China’s development opportunities.
Honorable Moteane, on behalf of the government and people of Lesotho, thanked the Chinese government for the firm support and consistent cooperation. He said that the new fire station will effectively enhance the fire-fighting capacity of Maseru and better protect people's lives and property.
