Chinese Ambassador to Fiji Zhou Jian Hands over Donation from the Chinese Embassy in Fiji to Lau Province

On July 10th, when invited to attend Ratu Tevita Mara’s installation ceremony as Paramount Chief of Lau Province, Ambassador Zhou Jian handed over to Chairman of the Lau Provincial Council Ratu Meli Saubulinayau a batch of donation from the Chinese Embassy in Fiji, and unveiled the China-Fiji Friendship Monument in Lau Province. 

Ambassador Zhou said in his speech that China fully supports Fiji’s rural revitalization and response to climate change. This batch of donation underscores China and Fiji’s commitment to development cooperation. China will always be a good brother and partner on Fiji's development path, and promote the benefits of China-Fiji cooperation to reach more ordinary Fijians.

Ratu Meli Saubulinayau expressed gratitude to China for its sincere help to Fiji all along, saying the donation will greatly contribute to improvement of people’s livelihoods in Lau and local economic development. The people of Lau Province will work hard to build their hometown with the support of Chinese friends, so as to make Fiji-China friendship continue bearing new fruits.

This batch of donation is worth 100 thousand Fijian dollars, including 30 pieces of solar streetlights, 12 sets of household solar facilities, and a mini-van.
