Chinese Ambassador to PNG Yang Xiaoguang Meets with Minister for Civil Aviation Hon. Wake Goi

On July 21, Chinese Ambassador to PNG H.E. Yang Xiaoguang met with the new Minister for Civil Aviation Hon. Wake Goi. They exchanged views on deepening China-PNG civil aviation cooperation.

Ambassador Yang congratulated Minister Goi on his appointment, and said that China and PNG are good friends, good partners and good brothers. In recent years, under the strategic guidance of the leaders of the two countries, China-PNG relations have maintained a good development momentum. The bilateral cooperation across various fields kept deepening. Fruitful outcomes have been achieved in civil aviation. The direct flights from Guangzhou to Port Moresby operated by China Southern Airlines was launched and increased to three flights per week, not only facilitating people-to-people exchanges between the two sides, but also helping PNG to become a regional transportation hub. The Chinese side looks forward to continuously deepening exchanges and cooperation with PNG in all areas including civil aviation to further enhance the level of connectivity between the two countries and in the region.

Minister Goi thanked China for its valuable support for the development and capacity building of PNG’s civil aviation industry, and said that PNG attaches great importance to relations with China. The PNG side is willing to deepen cooperation with China in various fields such as civil aviation to enhance the economic and trade exchanges as well as people-to-people connections between the two countries.
