On July 17, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to the United States Xie Feng met with CNN President and CEO Mark Thompson. The two sides exchanged views on China-U.S. relations, media development and other issues of mutual interest. Ambassador Xie elaborated on China’s principled position on developing China-U.S. relations, and expressed his hope that CNN will play a constructive role in enhancing mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese and American people and promoting the sound, stable and sustainable development of China-U.S. relations.
