On 23 July, Amb. Jiang Feng, Head of the Mission of China to the African Union, paid a courtesy call on Amb. Daniel Owassa, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Congo to the AU.

Amb. Jiang said that the Republic of Congo is African co-chair of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation. Under the guidance of the heads of state of both countries, the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Congo has developed steadily, becoming a model for solidarity and cooperation in the Global South. As the former Ambassador to China for ten years, Amb. Owassa has long been dedicated to fostering friendly relations between the two countries. He expressed his willingness to jointly work with Amb. Owassa, to thoroughly implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and the outcomes of the series of FOCAC meetings, to contribute to building an All-Weather China-Africa Community with a Shared Future for the New Era.

Amb. Owassa warmly welcomed Amb. Jiang's assumption of his new post, stating that Congo-China relations have remained close and strong over the years. Congo was one of the first destinations visited by President Xi Jinping during his first overseas trip as President, and it was also the first African country to establish a comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with China. As FOCAC co-chair, Congo is willing to closely coordinate with China to promote more fruitful results in Africa-China cooperation.
