Chinese Ambassador to Botswana Fan Yong Briefs Botswana Defence Command and Staff College on Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy

July 29, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Botswana, H.E. Fan Yong, delivered a lecture titled "China's Foreign Policy" at the Botswana Defence Command and Staff College. The presentation served to introduce Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy to a distinguished audience.

The event was attended by Brig DB Ndzinge, Commandant of the DCSC, along with officials from the Office of the President, the Ministry of International Affairs, and the Botswana Defence Force. Over 60 military students from Botswana, South Africa, Rwanda, and other nations were also in attendance.

In his address, Ambassador Fan highlighted the significant achievements in bilateral friendly relations and practical cooperation since the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Summit and in light of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Botswana. He provided an in-depth explanation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, with a particular focus on Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy.

The Ambassador elaborated on major themes and initiatives, including the building of a community with a shared future for humanity, the Global Development Initiative (GDI), the Global Security Initiative (GSI), the Global Civilization Initiative (GCI), and the joint construction of the Belt and Road initiative. Following the lecture, Ambassador Fan engaged in a lively and friendly Q&A session with the students, discussing various aspects of Chinese foreign policy.

Prior to the lecture, Ambassador Fan met with Brig DB Ndzinge to exchange views on strengthening military exchanges and cooperation between the two nations.
