Chinese Embassy in Uganda Celebrates the 98th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese PLA

On July 25, the Chinese Embassy in Uganda hosted a reception celebrating the 98th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Liberation Army. Ambassador Zhang Lizhong, Defense Attaché Senior Colonel Zhang Hao, Deputy Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament Rt. Hon. Tayeba, Minister of Defense and Veteran Affairs Hon. Oboth, and representatives from all walks of life in Uganda attended the reception.

In their speeches, Ambassador Zhang Lizhong and Senior Colonel Zhang Hao emphasized that this year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and that China has always been committed to world peace and development and willing to promote the building of a community of shared future for mankind together with other countries. Since its founding 98 years ago, the Chinese PLA, with the leadership of the Communist Party of China, has made outstanding achievements for national independence and development, and has actively participated in international peacekeeping, escort and other operations, demonstrating the responsibilities of the armed forces of a major power.

Oboth spoke highly of the relations between the two countries and militaries, thanked China for its long-term support for the defense development of Uganda, and expressed the will to continue to deepen cooperation.

An exhibition with the theme of “Safeguarding World Peace for a Shared Destiny” was held at the reception. All guests warmly congratulated the 98th anniversary of the founding of the PLA on its great achievements.
