On August 7, the Chinese Embassy in Canada, in collaboration with Niu Vision Media, the Alberta Young Entrepreneurs Association, and the Ottawa Chinese Business Association, successfully hosted a screening of the film Dead to Rights and a photo exhibition celebrating the 80th Anniversary of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Over 200 attendees from various sectors in Canada were present and joined the commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Ambassador Wang Di emphasized at the screening that the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was the main Eastern battlefield of the World Anti-Fascist War. The Chinese people made enormous sacrifices, with over 35 million military and civilian casualties, contributing significantly to the global victory against fascism—a cause also supported by the Canadian people. He expressed hope that both countries will jointly honour heroes who defended justice and peace, steadfastly advance the sound and steady growth of China-Canada relations, and work together to safeguard world peace and promote shared prosperity.
The attendees were deeply moved by the resilience of the Chinese people against extreme adversity as showcased in the film and the photo exhibition. They have expressed their conviction to remember history, honour fallen heroes, cherish peace and create a better future.
