On August 11, Amb. Jiang Feng, Head of the Mission of China to the African Union, paid a courtesy call on Amb. Robert Afriyie, Permanent Representative of Ghana to the African Union, and expressed condolences for the Ghanaian military helicopter crash.
Amb. Jiang stated that Ghana is among the first sub-Saharan countries to establish diplomatic relations with China and is an important strategic partner of China in Africa. He expressed his willingness to work with Amb. Afriyie to promote traditional friendship, deepen political mutual trust, and implement the outcomes of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) meetings for the benefit of the peoples of China, Ghana, and Africa. On behalf of China, Amb. Jiang expressed deep condolences to the victims of the plane crash and extended sincere sympathy to their families.
Amb. Afriyie welcomed Amb. Jiang's assumption of his new post and recalled the grand occasion of accompanying the President of Ghana to the FOCAC Beijing Summit in 2024. He spoke highly of the tremendous benefits that China-Africa cooperation has brought to the people of both sides and expressed his willingness to maintain close working contact with Amb. Jiang to promote the in-depth development of Ghana-China and Africa-China relations. He thanked Amb. Jiang for his condolences.
