On August 15, H.E. Zheng Bingkai, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Barbados accompanied by Counselor Huang Xinhua visited the Confucius Institute at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus. During the visit, Ambassador Zheng held discussions with Nie Lu, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute (CI), as well as with teachers of the CI, and toured its teaching facilities and faculty offices.

Ambassador Zheng commended the CI for its achievements in Chinese language education and in promoting Chinese culture in Barbados, and said that cultural exchanges and mutual learning are an important driving force for the sustained development of bilateral relations. He expressed the hope that the CI would continue to play the role of a bridge, and open up a new prospect of enhanced exchanges and understanding, and better interactions and integration of diversified cultures between China and Barbados.
