On August 19, 2025, H.E. Zheng Bingkai, the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Barbados, presented the Letter of Credence to H.E. the Very Reverend Dr. Jeffrey Gibson, Acting President of Barbados.

Ambassador Zheng first conveyed President Xi Jinping's warm greetings and best wishes to Acting President Gibson, highly praised the significant progress achieved in bilateral relations, and stated that the Chinese side is willing to work with the Barbadian side to comprehensively expand practical cooperation, carry out close coordination in international and regional affairs, continue to open new ground for China-Barbados friendly relations, and deliver more benefits to the two countries and two peoples.

Acting President Gibson warmly welcomed Ambassador Zheng’s assumption of office and conveyed his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping. Gibson thanked China for its long-term support to Barbados’ economic and social development, and stated that Barbados firmly supports the one-China principle and is willing to work with China to further promote the friendly bilateral relations.

On the same day, Ambassador Zheng presented the copy of the Letter of Credence to Resa Layne, Barbados' Chief of Protocol.

Ambassador Zheng arrived in Barbados on August 6 to assume office, and is the 15th Chinese Ambassador to Barbados.
