Chinese Ambassador to India Xu Feihong Presents Commemorative Medals to Indian Friends Who Supported the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression

On August 25, 2025, On behalf of Chinese government,Ambassador Xu Feihong presented the "80th Anniversary of the Victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression" commemorative medals to Dr. Basu, a member of the Indian Medical Mission that aided China during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. Dr. Singh, the medical heir of Dr. Basu, accepted the medal on his behalf.

Ambassador Xu said that the Indian Medical Team, represented by Dr. Kotnis and Dr. Basu, traveled thousands of miles to support the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, becoming an enduring monument to China-India friendship. The Chinese people will never forget these old friends of China, such as Dr. Kotnis and Dr. Basu. Ambassador Xu emphasized that from Xuanzang's journey to the West and Tagore's travels to the East, to the contributions of Dr. Kotnis and Dr. Basu in aiding China's resistance against Japanese aggression, these are all historical testimonies of China-India friendship. We must cherish and pass on this legacy to jointly forge a future of China-India friendship in the new era. Currently, tariff and trade wars are jolting the global economic and trade system, while unilateralism and hegemonism threaten international fairness and justice. China will stand shoulder-to-shoulder with India to safeguard international fairness and justice and together create an "Asian Century".

Dr. Singh expressed that he was deeply honored to accept the commemorative medal on behalf of Dr. Basu, extending his gratitude to the Chinese government and people for honoring  Dr. Kotnis and Dr. Basu. he affirmed that China-India solidarity, peace, and friendship embodied by the Indian Medical Mission will always remain our common pursuit.
