On 30 August 2025, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Australia hosted a music reception titled “Voices of Peace and Remembrance: Echoes Eighty Years On” to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. Nearly 400 guests attended the event, including Ambassador Xiao Qian, Federal Senator David Shoebridge, dignitaries from various sectors, representatives of diplomatic missions in Australia, as well as members of the Chinese community and international students.
Ambassador Xiao noted that the Chinese people fought with indomitable courage and tremendous sacrifice, securing the great victory of the War of Resistance and making a major contribution to the final triumph of the World Anti-Fascist War. He stressed that the peoples of China and Australia stood shoulder to shoulder at a critical juncture in history, forging profound bonds of friendship. The commemoration of this great victory, he underlined, serves as a call to jointly uphold the post-war international order and safeguard fairness and justice in the world.
At the reception, artists from the Shenyang Conservatory of Music performed a selection of classic works in praise of peace and friendship. A thematic photo exhibition, along with an exhibition on the life and work of international friend Michael Lindsay, was also held in parallel with the event.
