Chinese Ambassador to Tonga Liu Weimin Attends the Memorial Service for Fallen Soldiers of Tonga in WWII

On September 2, His Majesty’s Armed Forces of Tonga held a memorial service at the Cenotaph to honor the fallen soldiers of Tonga in World War II. Ambassador Liu Weimin attended the event.

This year marks the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII. Tonga had dispatched soldiers to fight in the war, who bravely served in the Solomon Islands and made the ultimate sacrifice. On this occasion, foreign envoys and military representatives stationed in Tonga were specially invited to join the Tongan forces in paying tribute to those who gave their lives in the war.

The Defense Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Tonga, together with military representatives from Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and Japan laid wreaths at the Cenotaph.
