On August 30, the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania held the Film “Dead to Rights” Tanzania Special Screening Event at Century Cinemax in Dar es Salaam. H.E. Ambassador Chen Mingjian and Dr. Gervas Kasiga, Executive Secretary of Tanzania Film Board, attended the event, together with nearly 300 people including Tanzanian friends and representatives from Chinese institutions and overseas Chinese community.
Amb. Chen stated in the remarks that the film is a profound tribute to the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression. China’s War of Resistance started the earliest and lasted the longest, making historic contributions to the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War. The great spirit forged in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression has inspired both domestic and overseas Chinese people to move forward with courage and determination, and fully advance the construction of a strong nation through Chinese path to modernization. It is hoped that the Chinese compatriots in Tanzania could shoulder historical responsibility and make new contributions to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation through practical actions.
Dr. Kasiga said that Tanzania empathizes with China’s War of Resistance and stands ready to deepen bilateral cooperation and safeguard peace.
The audience were deeply shocked by the film and expressed their determination to learn from history and ensure that such historical tragedies never happen again.
Amb. Chen and Dr. Kasiga were interviewed by the media after the event.
