On September 3, Consul General Li Nan attended and delivered remarks at the 138th Canton Fair Promotion Conference in the UK (Northern Irleand Sub-venue). Li Peng, Counsellor for Economic and Commercial Affairs of the Chinese Embassy in the UK, Zhang Sihong, Deputy Director General of the China Foreign Trade Centre, Kailash Chada, President of the NI Chamber, and more than 200 representatives from the Chinese and British business communities joined the event.
Consul General Li noted that the Canton Fair epitomizes China’s continued opening up and offers a platform for the world to share in China’s opportunities. China is Northern Ireland’s second-largest import market and its 12th-largest export market. Bilateral trade has reached and stabilized at around £1 billion for several consecutive years, demonstrating strong resilience and vitality. We warmly welcome friends from all sectors in Northern Ireland to visit China and actively participate in the Canton Fair, to enhance mutual understanding and explore new opportunities for cooperation.
Kailash Chada, President of the NI Chamber and Peter McConvey, a NI Canton Fair regular buyer, praised the Canton Fair as the best choice for establishing international partnerships, expressed optimism about the potential of China's economic development, and hoped to achieve better development for itself through cooperation with China.
Participants expressed their willingness to make full use of the Canton Fair as a high-quality platform to achieve mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
