On September 16, the Chinese Consulate General in Davao held a reception celebrating the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Consul General Zhao Xiuzhen delivered the keynote address. Davao City Acting Mayor Sebastian Duterte attended and delivered remarks. Over 300 people attended, including mayors of some cities within the consular jurisdiction, Davao regional directors of various government departments, Davao City councilors, the Consular Corps, media, representatives from overseas Chinese communities and Chinese enterprises.
Consul General Zhao Xiuzhen reviewed the great achievements made over the past 76 years since the founding of the People's Republic of China, particularly in poverty alleviation, and highlighted the significance of the Global Governance Initiative. She stated that this year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Philippines. Looking ahead, both sides should adhere to seeking common ground while reserving differences, work together to create greater well-being for both peoples, and contribute more positive energy to regional peace and stability.
Davao City Acting Mayor Sebastian Duterte warmly congratulated the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. He expressed that the Davao City government is willing to work hand in hand with China to jointly strive for a future of common progress, mutual respect and lasting friendship.
