On 4 September 2025, the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Brisbane successfully co-hosted the China-Queensland Tourism Dialogue with the Queensland Tourism Industry Council. Consul-General Dr Ruan Zongze and Hon Andrew Powell MP, representative of Premier David Crisafulli and Minister for Environment and Tourism of Queensland state government delivered opening remarks. Deputy Consul-General Mr Yang Chenqi, Deputy Consul-General Ms Li Suyun, representative of the Chinese Embassy in Australia, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade's Queensland Office, Tourism Australia, Tourism and Events Queensland, and Chinese airlines attended the event.

Dr Ruan stated that with the resumption of the China-Australia tourism dialogue, people-to-people exchanges continue to improve. The two sides should deepen cooperation including tourism cooperation, strengthen the friendship of peoples and win-win between China and Australia.
Hon Powell stated that the Queensland government attaches great importance to the development of the tourism industry and cooperation with China. Queensland's Destination 2045 Strategy sets a 20-year vision for the tourism industry, and the 2032 Brisbane Olympics provide a rare opportunity to deepen Queensland's international cooperation.
Participants actively put forward suggestions on issues such as promoting personnel exchanges between the two sides and opening more direct flights.
