On September 16th 2025, the Chinese Consulate General in Erbil held a reception to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. More than 500 attendees were present, including H.E. Jaafar Mustafa, Vice President of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), senior officials, friends from various sectors, diplomatic missions in the KRI, as well as representatives of the Chinese community and enterprises.  

In his speech, Consul General Liu Jun reviewed the great achievements China has made over the 76 years since the founding of China under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, elaborated on the historical significance of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, and highlighted the Global Governance Initiative (GGI). He expressed China’s willingness to commit to the concept of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation and share the new opportunities of Chinese modernization with the KRI.  

Foreign Minister Safeen Dizayee, speaking on behalf of the Kurdistan Regional Government, stated that the achievements and experience of Chinese modernization are worth learning from and expressed the Region’s readiness to further deepen practical cooperation with China.  

A handover ceremony for the “Chinese Park” was also held during the reception. There are also a thematic photo exhibition marking the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and Chinese products, food, and culture exhibitions, attracting many guests to stop and experience.
