On 20 September, Consul General Chen Shijie attended and addressed the Cultural China · Charming Huaxing Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day Cultural Gala, commemorating the 10th anniversary of the New Zealand Hua Xing Art Troupe. The event was also attended by Mr. Leo de Graaf and Ms. Galina May, Vice Presidents of the Auckland Branch of the New Zealand-China Friendship Association, along with nearly a thousand overseas Chinese residents in the consular district.

Chen first extended warmest greetings for National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival to fellow Chinese. He stated that on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, President Xi Jinping's Global Governance Initiative is another important public good that China has contributed to the international community, opening up a bright future of peace, security, prosperity and progress for the world.
The Consulate-General is willing to work with all sectors of the consular district to deepen mutual learning among civilizations, promote cultural integration, build consensus on development, and promote the sustained, healthy, and stable development of China-New Zealand relations. Consul General Chen also highly praised the Huaxing Art Troupe's contribution to promoting cultural exchanges between China and New Zealand over the past decade.
The gala showcased a diverse range of artistic performances, including singing, dancing, instrumental music, and Chinese opera, creating a festive and lively atmosphere.
