Chinese Ambassador to Australia Xiao Qian Meets with Nobel Laureate Professor Barry Marshall

On September 22, Ambassador Xiao Qian met with Professor Barry Marshall, Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine, and exchanged views on China-Australia medical science and technology collaboration.

Professor Marshall was awarded the 2005 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for his discovery of Helicobacter pylori and its role in gastritis and peptic ulcer disease. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science, an International Member of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States, and an International Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. Professor Marshall has long been committed to China-Australia medical research collaboration and friendly exchanges. He was awarded the Chinese Government Friendship Award in 2015 and the China International Science and Technology Cooperation Award in 2023.
