On September 30, Ambassador Hou Yanqi hosted a reception in Jakarta to celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn was present with over 200 guests including ambassadors to ASEAN, and representatives from regional think tanks, media and enterprises.

In her speech, Ambassador Hou gave an introduction on China's new achievements in economic and social development and its neighborhood diplomacy, and stressed that "China's Governance" contributes Chinese wisdom to the state governance of other developing countries. She expressed that President Xi Jinping recently put forward the Global Governance Initiative, responding to the common aspirations of people in all countries, and injecting stability and certainty into the turbulent world. China has always regarded ASEAN as the top priority in its neighborhood diplomacy. China is willing to continue working with ASEAN to build a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.

In their congratulatory remarks, Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn and Permanent Representative of Malaysia to ASEAN H.E. Sarah Al Bakri Devadason highly praised the great achievements of Chinese modernization as well as the Global Governance Initiative, and wished China-ASEAN relations to reach new heights.

The guests enjoyed Chinese art, tasted delicious food and interacted with each other enthusiastically. All made it an evening with friendly and warm atmosphere.
