On October 15, Mr. Zhang Wei, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Mission of China to the African Union attended the seminar themed on “China-Africa Cooperation Supporting African Continental TVET Strategy (2025–2034)”. The event was addressed by Mrs. Sophia Ashipala, the Head of Education Division, ESTI, AUC; Dr. Jahou Samba Faal, Secretary-General of the Association of Technical Universities and Polytechnics in Africa; heads of vocational education institutions from across Africa and corporate representatives. Approximately 250 attendees participated, including AUC officials, diplomats and youth representatives.

Mr. Zhang introduced a series of new initiatives announced by President Xi Jinping at the Global Leader’s Summit on Women. He emphasized that under the guidance of the China‑Africa Talent Training Cooperation Plan, China and Africa have achieved fruitful cooperation in the vocational education. China will implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China‑Africa Cooperation and carry out the Future of Africa: China-Africa TVET Cooperation Program to support high‑quality development of vocational education in Africa.

During the event, H.E. AUC Chairperson Mahmoud Ali Youssouf and other high-level officials visited the Skills Development Marketplace and Exhibition, where they experienced Chinese AI products at the booth of Luban Workshop and Confucius Institute.
