On 20 October, Acting Consul General Wang Junchao accompanied Mr. Jin Lei, Member of the Standing Committee and Chief of the Organization Department of the CPC Sichuan Provincial Committee, to attend the China (Sichuan)—New Zealand Economic and Trade Cooperation Matchmaking Conference. New Zealand Minister for Trade and Agriculture Todd McClay delivered a video speech. Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown, MP Nancy Lu, CEO of the Auckland Business Chamber Simon Bridges and over 100 business representatives from both countries attended the event.

In his speech, Wang introduced the new achievements made in China's high-quality economic development and the new opportunities it has brought to New Zealand companies, highlighting the broad prospect for cooperation between Sichuan and the Auckland Consular District in the fields of trade, culture, tourism, clean energy and other fields. The Consulate-General is willing to continue to play the role of a bridge and link to promote in-depth and practical cooperation between the two countries' local governments.
The Sichuan delegation elaborated its opening-up strategy, consumer market, and the development of new quality productive forces. Enterprises from both countries signed MoUs covering 12 projects, including trade in goods and services, with a total intended transaction value of 1.3 billion yuan.
