On November 5, 2025, Chinese Ambassador to Iceland He Rulong published an article titled “Toward a Green Future and Gender Equality” in Iceland’s leading newspaper Morgunblaðið. The article reviewed the outcomes of Icelandic President Halla Tómasdóttir’s visit to China and briefed on the key messages of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

The article noted that President Tómasdóttir’s visit to China for the Global Leader’s Meeting on Women was fruitful and marked a new milestone in China–Iceland relations. During the visit, the two countries signed a series of documents for cooperation on geothermal and green transition, export of Icelandic wild aquatic products to China, and a bilateral currency swap arrangement, injecting fresh momentum into pragmatic cooperation between the two sides.
Ambassador He emphasized that long-term and systematic planning has been a vital guarantee for China’s economic takeoff and social progress. The Five-Year Plans represent one of China’s key institutional strengths and provide stability in addressing global challenges. The recently concluded Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee adopted the 15th Five-Year Plan, which will further advance China’s high-quality development and opening-up, creating new opportunities for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Iceland and for building a community with a shared future for humanity.
