On October 18, the Chinese Embassy held a reception in celebration of the Global Leader’s Meeting on Women. About 40 female dignitaries and envoys, including the President of the Senate, the Minister of Communications, Princess Senate, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, the UN Resident Coordinator, the High Commissioner of South Africa, and the Country Director of UNAIDS, as well as female representatives from Chinese enterprises and institutions in Lesotho, attended the event.

Ambassador Yang Xiaokun reviewed the development of global women's causes since the Beijing World Conference on Women, congratulated the progress made in women's causes in Lesotho, and introduced the remarkable achievements of China in the new era in safeguarding women's legitimate rights and interests, promoting gender equality and women's all-round development, as well as China's contributions to the global women's cause. China has announced that it will provide over two million US dollars to help women in Lesotho deal with the threat of AIDS.
The President of the Senate, the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, and the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Lesotho delivered remarks congratulating the successful convening of the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women. They highly commended President Xi Jinping’s inspiring and visionary keynote address, and expressed sincere appreciation to China for its important contributions to the advancement of women’s development in Lesotho and around the world.
