On November 11, H.E. Wang Yu, Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, paid a visit to the Bondhere Orphan Girls Center in Mogadishu to hand over donations including stationery and daily necessities. He was joined by Hon. Asho Kos Mohamud Omar Haji Khaire, Member of the Somali Federal Parliament, H.E. Abdiaziz Osman Mohamed, Deputy Mayor of Mogadishu, and representatives of the Mama Zahra Foundation as well as the center.

In his remarks, Ambassador Wang Yu briefed on the keynote speech of President Xi Jinping at the opening ceremony of the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women. He said that China is committed to providing opportunities and support for global women's cause through its development, and stands ready to work closely with Somalia to jointly foster an enabling environment for women's growth and development, enhance the protection of women and girls in regions struck by war, conflict, poverty and natural disaster, support the vital role of women in preventing conflict and rebuilding their homes.

Deputy Mayor Abdiaziz Osman Mohamed and other Somali participants expressed their sincere gratitude for China’s continuous support to the development of women and children’s cause of Somalia. They said that the Somali side will work with the Chinese side to strengthen the traditional friendship and foster the bilateral cooperation to jointly advance toward development and prosperity.
