On November 18, H.E. Wang Yu, Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, attended the awarding ceremony of “China-Somalia Friendship Scholarship”held in Somali National University (SNU). Dr. Mohamed Mohamud Mohamed, Rector of SNU, and representatives of SNU faculty and students also participated in the event.

Ambassador Wang said that this year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of China-Somalia diplomatic relations. China and Somalia both have the historical mission of safeguarding the national sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, and are thus committed to supporting each other in this regard. He also expressed the hope that the youth in Somalia will make more contributions to the national development and the friendship between the two countries.
Ambassador Wang briefed on the key ideas of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, saying that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period, China will continue to pursue high-quality development, expand high-standard opening up, ensure both development and security, thus advance the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation on all fronts through Chinese modernization. President Xi Jinping highlights that on the path to modernization, no one, and no country, should be left behind. China will uphold the vision of a building a community with a shared future for humanity and stand ready to facilitate the coordination of development strategies between the two countries to jointly pursue modernization.
Rector Mohamed and other representatives of SNU expressed their appreciation to the Chinese Embassy for establishing the scholarship, and stand ready to continuously strengthening the two countries’ longtime friendship and mutual support.
