On 24 November 2025, Ambassador Liu Yantao paid a farewell call on Cypriot Member of the European Parliament Michalis Hadjipantela.

Ambassador Liu expressed appreciation to Mr. Hadjipantela for working closely with the Chinese side to respond to COVID and deepen bilateral cooperation as Minister of Health of Cyprus, and for helping enhance China-EU mutual understanding and mutually beneficial cooperation as an MEP. In light of the bright prospects of China-EU relations, the Chinese side is ready to work with the EU side to secure steady and sustained progress in bilateral ties.

Mr. Hadjipantela spoke highly of Ambassador Liu’s significant contributions to deepening all-round cooperation between Cyprus and China, reiterated his firm commitment to the one-China principle, and expressed his willingness to continue to support the growth of Cyprus-China and EU-China relations.
