Chinese Ambassador to Tonga Liu Weimin Attends The International Bicycle Donation Ceremony in Tonga

On December 4th, the international bicycles donation ceremony was held in Tonga High School. H.E. Ambassador Liu Weimin, on behalf of Chinese side, donated 100 bicycles respectively to Tonga High School and Tupou College and delivered a speech. Miss Veikoso, the Principle of Tonga High School, Mr. Nuku, Deputy Principle of Tupou College, as well as teachers and students from these two schools attended the ceremony.

Ambassador Liu said that the launch of the International Bicycle Donation Project in Tonga stands as another strong testament to the flourishing cooperation between our two nations. His Majesty King Tupou VI successfully concluded his state visit to China last week, and the Communist Party of China deliberated and adopted the Recommendations for Formulating the 15th Five-Year Plan for National Economic and Social Development, which will surely bring about more opportunities for deepening the partnership and fostering exchanges in education and beyond between China and Tonga. China stands ready to work with Tonga to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, and further advance the bilateral relations. He also encouraged students to play a active role to contribute to Tonga's development and the enduring friendship between China and Tonga.

The Tongan side expressed sincere gratitude for China’s generous donation and believed that the mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries will continue to yield more fruitful results in the future. Ambassador Liu cut the ribbon, hopped on the bicycle and pedaled alongside the Tongan students.
