Chargé d'Affaires of Chinese Embassy in Solomon Islands Yang Jie Attends The Launching Ceremony of the Rural Sustainable Development Program

On November 26th, the launching ceremony of the Rural Sustainable Development Program( RSDP) held in Honiara. Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Solomon Islands Yang Jie attended the ceremony and delivered a speech. Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele and over twenty cabinet ministers and members of parliament, among others, were present.

In his remarks, Chargé d'Affaires Yang Jie pointed out that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Solomon Islands, the bilateral cooperation has been fruitful. Since 2023, China started to support RSDP, aiming to promote the economic and social development of Solomon Islands and improve the quality of life for the local people. He called for joint efforts from all stakeholders to ensure the smooth implementation of the RSDP and to truly benefit the people. In his speech, Chargé d'Affaires Yang Jie publicized the guiding principle of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and expressed the willingness to deepen practical cooperation with Solomon Islands across sectors, and build a closer China-SI community with a shared future.

Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele, on behalf of Solomon Islands government, conveyed gratitude to Chinese government and people, highly appreciated the significance of the RSDP for the development of SI and expressed expectations for the new phase of RSDP to bring more positive impacts. Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele reaffirmed that Solomon Islands government firmly adheres to the one-China principle and stand ready to deepen and expand cooperation with China.
