On December 3, 2025, the Chinese Consulate together with the relevant departments of the Kurdistan Regional Government and representatives of Chinese enterprises and citizens, convened the tripartite mechanism symposium on consular protection。

In his speech, Consul General Mr. Liu Jun stated that following the successful conclusion of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the adoption of the recommendations for the 15th Five-Year Plan, China will continue to expand high-standard opening-up and advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. As an increasing number of Chinese enterprises and citizens are investing and developing in the Kurdistan Region, China hopes to establish a consular protection mechanism with the relevant departments of the Region to effectively safeguard the safety and lawful rights and interests of Chinese personnel and institutions.

Representatives from key departments of the Kurdistan Regional Government, including Foreign Affairs, Police, Customs, Trade and Industry, and Residency, as well as representatives from Chinese enterprises and citizens held in-depth discussions on practical topics like visa processing, residency permits, and company registration.
