On November 28, the Confucius Classroom at Dominica State College (DSC) hosted the first Chinese Language Contest. Among the attendees were Hon. Henderson, Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Business, Trade and Energy of Dominica, H.E. Ambassador Chu Maoming, Ms. Christian, Officer in Charge at DSC, Mr. Shi Jianzhang, Chinese Director of the Confucius Classroom, as well as representatives from faculty and students, overseas Chinese, and Chinese enterprises in Dominica.

Hon. Minister Henderson expressed gratitude for the Chinese government’s longstanding assistance in the field of education and spoke highly of China’s achievements in areas such as poverty reduction and technology. He encouraged students to learn Chinese well, study China’s development experience, and become contributors to national development as well as friendly ambassadors enhancing exchanges between Dominica and China.

H.E. Ambassador Chu firstly thanked the organizers for their hard work in providing a platform for students who love the Chinese language and culture to showcase themselves and exchange ideas. He noted that the event has deepened students’ understanding of China and inspired more young people to learn Chinese. Ambassador Chu also encouraged the students present to continue studying Chinese diligently, to understand the real China, thus carrying forward the friendship between the two countries, and injecting more vitality into China-Dominica relations.
