Chinese Ambassador to Lesotho Yang Xiaokun Attends the Handover Ceremony of China-aided Medicines and Medical Equipment to Lesotho

On December 30, the Ministry of Health of Lesotho hosted a handover ceremony for medicines and medical equipment aided by the Chinese government. H.E. Chinese Ambassador Yang Xiaokun, PS of Lesotho’s Ministry of Health Ntene, other relevant officials, representatives from Maseru District Hospital and Ntsekhe Hospital, the 19th Chinese Medical Team to Lesotho, as well as media representatives, totaling over 40 participants, attended the event.

In his address, Ambassador Yang stated that since dispatching the first medical team to Lesotho in 1997, China has consistently been committed to advancing medical and health cooperation with Lesotho. China has helped construct Lesotho’s most modern hospital and supported the upgrading of the country’s medical and health system. The medicines and medical equipment donated this time are precisely aligned with Lesotho’s actual needs, which constitutes another vivid embodiment of China and Lesotho jointly building a community of health for all mankind.

PS Ntene delivered a speech to express her gratitude. She emphasized that the donated supplies will inject strong impetus into consolidating local medical defense lines and advancing universal health coverage, serving as a solid support for Lesotho and China to jointly address public health challenges. She expressed sincere expectation to deepen collaboration with China in talent cultivation and technical exchanges, and continuously consolidate the foundation of friendship between the two countries through health cooperation.
