Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Chinese Ambassador to Malaysia Ouyang Yujing Attends the Unveiling Ceremony of the New Giant Panda Pair

On January 10, an unveiling ceremony of the new giant panda pair was held at Zoo Negara Malaysia, where giant pandas Chen Xing and Xiao Yue officially met the Malaysian public.

Present were Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dato' Seri Anwar Ibrahim; Ambassador of China to Malaysia, H.E. Ouyang Yujing; Menteri Besar (Chief Minister) of Selangor, Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari, and Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability of Malaysia, Dato' Sri Arthur Joseph Kurup, among others.

During the event, Prime Minister Anwar and Ambassador Ouyang along other guests visited the Giant Panda Conservation Centre and exchanged views on international giant panda conservation and research cooperation between China and Malaysia.

Speaking at the press conference, Prime Minister Anwar hopes that Ambassador Ouyang may convey the gratitude from Malaysia to the Chinese government on his behalf, noting that the new giant panda pair will be a boon for Malaysia in attracting domestic and foreign tourists.

As new envoys of  China-Malaysia friendship, giant panda pair Chen Xing and Xiao Yue arrived in Malaysia on 18 November 2025, marking the official start of a new round of international giant panda conservation and research cooperation between China and Malaysia.
