On January 9, Fu Fengshan, Chargé d'Affaires ad interim of the Mission of the People's Republic of China to ASEAN, signed the Handover Certificate of cash assistance with Lee Yam Ming, Executive Director of the AHA Centre.

Mr. Fu stated that, following the strong earthquake in Myanmar, Chinese President Xi Jinping immediately extended condolences to the leader of Myanmar. China provided emergency humanitarian assistance to Myanmar and is the country that dispatched the largest number of rescue teams and personnel. In response to the request from the AHA Centre, the Chinese government agreed to providethe cash assistance, which aims to implement the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind and the Global Development Initiative (GDI), support ASEAN in advancing its Five-Point Consensus on Myanmar, and assist in rebuilding schools in the disaster-affected areas of Myanmar. We hope the AHA Centre will make good use of the assistance funds, and benefit the children in the disaster-affected areas of Myanmar at the earliest time possible.
Mr. Lee expressed deep appreciation for China's assistance to Myanmar and its steadfast support for ASEAN, stating that the school construction will be completed with high quality. The AHA Centre would like to enhance cooperation with China in disaster prevention and management.
