On January 12, Ambassador Yang Yang gave an interview to the Guyana National Communications Network, answering questions on the China-Guyana cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative and bilateral relations.

Ambassador Yang spoke highly of the outstanding contributions made by the Chinese community in Guyana to the nation’s independence and socio-economic development. She noted that despite the geographical distance, the two countries share a long-standing friendship. Guyana is a cherished member of the Belt and Road family. Guided by the important consensus reached by President Xi Jinping and President Ali, the high-quality Belt and Road cooperation between China and Guyana have produced fruitful outcomes. The Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee laid out a blueprint for China’s development in the next five years, and also will bring vast opportunities for Caribbean countries like Guyana. China will expand institutional opening-up, uphold the multilateral trading system, and advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation. We are ready to work with our Global South partners, including Guyana, to share the opportunities of Chinese modernization and deliver tangible benefits for people across the globe.
