On 13 January 2026, Consul General Mr. Liu Jun visited the Jalal Talabani Foundation and met with its Chairman, Dr. Mohammed Sabir, former Iraqi Ambassador to China.

Consul General Liu recalled that former President Jalal Talabani was a long-time friend of the Chinese people. He noted that President Talabani visited China in his youth and later paid a successful state visit to China during his presidency, making important contributions to the development of China–Iraq friendly relations. He expressed the Consulate General’s willingness to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with the Foundation, deepen practical cooperation and people-to-people exchanges, and further enrich the substance of the China–Iraq strategic partnership.

Dr. Sabir stated that his tenure as Ambassador to China remains a valuable and cherished experience in his life. As Chairman of the Foundation, he expressed his commitment to continuing efforts to promote practical cooperation and people-to-people diplomacy between the two countries.
