On 14 January 2026, Consul General Mr. Liu Jun met with Dr. Yousif Goran, Member of the Politburo of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) and President of the Center for Future Studies (CFS).

Consul General Liu briefed Dr. Goran on the key outcomes of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He noted the long-standing traditional friendship between the CPC and the PUK, and expressed China’s willingness to further strengthen exchanges on governance and development experience, advance practical cooperation, and promote people-to-people exchanges in pursuit of common development for the benefit of both peoples.

Dr. Goran stated that the PUK attaches great importance to studying the CPC’s experience in party building and governance. He expressed the desire to carry forward the traditional friendship and conveyed his hope to lead a delegation to China in the future to establish cooperation with Chinese universities and think tanks, and to gain firsthand understanding of the remarkable achievements of Chinese modernization.

The two sides also exchanged views on regional issues and Iraq’s political landscape.
