Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding and Senior Zimbabwean Officials Pay a Joint Visit to Dinson Iron and Steel Company

On January 22, H.E. Zhou Ding, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe, together with Hon. Monica Mutsvangwa, Minister of Women Affairs, Community, Small and Medium Enterprises Development of Zimbabwe, and cross-party Members of Parliament from the Zimbabwe–China Parliamentary Friendship Association led by Hon. Webster Shamu, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade, paid a joint visit to Dinson Iron and Steel Company (DISCO), a Chinese-invested enterprise in Zimbabwe.

During the visit, Ambassador Zhou spoke highly of DISCO’s commitment to advancing mutually beneficial China–Zimbabwe cooperation. He noted the company’s remarkable achievements in promoting value addition, creating job opportunities, fulfilling social responsibilities, and improving local livelihoods. Ambassador Zhou stated that China stands ready to advance in-depth alignment between China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and Zimbabwe’s National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2), and to support Zimbabwe in advancing its manufacturing upgrading and industrialization drive. He also expressed the hope that Zimbabwe will continue to optimize its investment environment so as to attract more Chinese investment and further deepen practical cooperation between the two countries.

Hon. Mutsvangwa, Hon. Shamu and the Zimbabwean Members of Parliament present highly commended the pivotal role of Zimbabwe–China cooperation in Zimbabwe’s economic and social development. They spoke positively of DISCO’s outstanding contributions to the development of Zimbabwe’s steel industry and to local community development, and extended a warm welcome to more Chinese enterprises to invest and thrive in Zimbabwe.
