Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Zhang Lizhong Concludes His Tenure and Departs for China

On January 26, 2026, Ambassador Zhang Lizhong, accompanied by his wife Ms. Lin Yaqun, departed from Uganda for China upon concluding his tenure. Officials from the Ugandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomats from the Chinese Embassy were present at the Entebbe International Airport to see him off.

Prior to his departure, Ambassador Zhang paid farewell calls on Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Vice President Jessica Alupo, First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Kadaga, Foreign Minister Jeje Odongo and other dignitaries. The Ugandan side spoke highly of Ambassador Zhang's contributions to deepening and expanding China-Uganda relations during his tenure and expressed readiness to continue the traditional friendship and further strengthen cooperation across various fields with China.

Ambassador Zhang Lizhong arrived in Uganda and assumed his duty in June 2021.
