Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Zhang Lizhong & Mdm. Lin Yaqun Bid Farewell to President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni

On January 21, Ambassador Zhang Lizhong and his wife Madame Lin Yaqun paid a courtesy call on Ugandan President H.E. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to bid farewell at end of his tenure of post. Minister Counselor Fan Xuecheng was present.

Ambassador Zhang congratulated President Museveni on his re-election, and extended great appreciation to President Museveni for the valuable support rendered to him during his tenure of post. He noted that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Museveni, the China-Uganda Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership has born fruitful outcomes. He said that China highly appreciates Uganda’s firm adherence to the one-China principle. China stands ready to take the implementation of the "zero-tariff" policy, the "ten partnership actions," and the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges as opportunities to fast-track the joint pursuit of modernization by both sides and continuously deepen China-Uganda friendship and exchanges.

President Museveni spoke highly of Ambassador Zhang’s valuable contributions to deepening and expanding Uganda-China relations. He emphasized that Uganda and China are good partners and brothers who treat each other with sincerity and support each other. Uganda wishes to work with China in strengthening cooperation in all fields.

Prior to this, Ambassador Zhang bid farewell to Ugandan Vice President Jessica Alupo and First Deputy Prime Minister Rebecca Kadaga.
