On March 12, Amb. Jiang Feng, Head of the Mission of China to the African Union, met with Prof. Mercy Mulugeta, Director of Institute for Peace and Security Studies (IPSS), Addis Ababa University.

Amb. Jiang highlighted China’s decision to fully implement zero-tariff treatment for exports from 53 African countries with which it has diplomatic relations, and the cooperation between Chinese and African media and think tanks under the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) mechanism. Amb. Jiang emphasized that China is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with all parties on African peace and security issues, contributing Chinese wisdom to promoting regional peace and stability.
Prof. Mulugeta appreciated China’s long-term support for the development of African think tanks and expressed her willingness to strengthen cooperation with China in the field of African peace and security research, and learn from China’s governance and development experience. Prof. Mulugeta also briefed on the preparations for the Tana High-level Forum on Security in Africa hosted by the IPSS.
