On 17 March 2026, H.E Ambassador Cai Weiming attended and addressed the ceremony of donating medical supplies to Solomon Islands as well as the farewell & welcome ceremony for the Chinese medical teams. Present at the event were H.E Mr. Barrett Salato, Solomon Islands Ambassador to China. Ms. Pauline McNeil, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS). Ms. Yang Guanghong, Deputy Director of Guizhou Provincial Health Commission, among other guests.

Ambassador Cai stated that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Solomon Islands, the two countries have achieved fruitful results in medical and healthcare cooperation. The new batch of medical supplies donated by China carry the profound friendship of the Chinese people to Solomon Islands people. His sincere hope that the donation will help Solomon Islands upgrade its healthcare services. In his speech, H.E Ambassador Cai commended the 4th CMT members for their dedication, devotion and contribution to medical assistance, skills training and capacity building to SI. He also expressed his hope that the 5th Chinese Medical Team will build on past achievements, continue to deepen China-Solomon Islands medical and healthcare cooperation and jointly advance the building of a global community of health for all.
PS of MHMS, Ms. McNeil spoke highly of the fruitful outcomes of bilateral healthcare cooperation. She expects further deepening of bilateral cooperation to bring more benefits to Solomon Islands people, and presented certificates of recognition to the members of the 4th Chinese Medical Team who are about to complete their term and depart for China.
