On March 23, Chinese Ambassador Cao Zhongming attended the “China’s Next Chapter and Impact on Your Business” Fireside Chat hosted by the Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF), delivered a keynote speech and engaged in a fireside chat with Ms. Lee Huay Leng, editor-in-chief of Chinese Media Group at SPH Media. The event was attended by SMF President Mr. Lennon Tan and nearly 200 SMF members.

In his speech, Ambassador Cao highlighted the key features of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan and the country’s economic and social development goals for 2026. He described the 15th Five-Year Plan as a crucial blueprint that bridges past achievements with future ambitions, representing a new vision for China’s development and for cooperation between China and the world. He noted that the plan will bring greater certainty to the world and generate fresh momentum for deepening collaboration between China and countries like Singapore.

Mr. Lennon Tan pointed out that the 15th Five-Year Plan is not only vital for China’s development but also presents new opportunities for Singapore and ASEAN countries. He hoped that Chinese and Singaporean companies can step up cooperation in the process of building a bright future together. 

Ambassador Cao also engaged in discussions with Ms. Lee Huay Leng and the audience on topics such as artificial intelligence, the international operation of Chinese enterprises, and the Hainan Free Trade Port.
