On March 31, the Chinese Embassy in Iceland hosted a briefing on “Two Sessions” and the 15th Five-Year Plan. Ambassador He Rulong delivered a keynote speech. Representatives from the Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Icelandic-Chinese Cultural Society, the Icelandic-Chinese Trade Council, the business community, as well as mainstream media including Morgunblaðið and Viðskiptablaðið participated in the event. Counsellor Yang Jing and Counsellor Dai Ke from the Embassy also attended.

Ambassador He outlined the significance of this year’s “Two Sessions” and the main contents of the 15th Five-Year Plan. He emphasized that China will stay the course of high-quality development, continue pursuing high-level opening-up, and remain a steadfast force for world peace, stability, and development. He called on Iceland to work together with China to further advance bilateral relations. Ambassador He also elaborated on China’s position regarding the situation in Iran and answered questions from the audience.

Icelandic adventurer and documentary filmmaker Kristján Gíslason shared his motorcycle travels in Xinjiang. Participants spoke highly of China’s rapid economic and social development as a result of formulating and executing medium- and long-term plans, and looked forward to furthering exchanges and cooperation with China.
