On March 30, 2026, Ambassador Zhang Zuo met with H.E. Barkın Kayaoğlu, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye to Malta.

Ambassador Zhang noted that the Silk Road, spanning millennia, has connected China and Türkiye, with friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation enduring through the ages. In today's world marked by intertwined changes and turbulence, China and Türkiye, as important members of the Global South, are both at a critical stage of development and revitalization. The two sides share common interests in safeguarding international peace and promoting development. China stands ready to enhance communication and exchanges with Türkiye so as to deliver benefits to both countries and the wider region.

Ambassador Kayaoğlu stated that, under the strategic guidance of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Xi Jinping, Türkiye-China relations have maintained a sound momentum of development. The alignment between Türkiye's “Middle Corridor” initiative and the Belt and Road Initiative holds great potential for cooperation. Türkiye looks forward to strengthening exchanges with China and exploring opportunities for cooperation.

The two sides also had a friendly exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest.
